The Residential Property Managers Association of New Zealand (RPMA) has announced the appointment of Elias Kanaris as its new Chief Executive Officer, reinforcing the organisation’s commitment to strengthening professionalism, education, and advocacy across New Zealand’s residential property management sector. 

RPMA Chairperson Tony Mitchell said the appointment represents an important milestone for the organisation and its members. 

“The appointment of Elias marks a significant step forward for the RPMA in delivering on our commitments to members. It will substantially strengthen our education and advocacy programs. His top priority will be creating real, tangible value for our membership.” 

Kanaris brings extensive experience in leadership, stakeholder engagement, governance, communications, and membership-based organisations. His background spans the technology, telecommunications, customer experience, and association sectors, where he has developed a reputation for building communities, driving collaboration, and strengthening organisational capability. 

His appointment signals RPMA’s ongoing focus on supporting residential property managers through a period of increasing compliance obligations, regulatory change, and heightened professional expectations across the rental sector. 

Kanaris said he was honoured to join RPMA at a pivotal time for the industry. 

“Residential property managers play an incredibly important role in supporting both property owners and tenants throughout New Zealand.
